Answer:
  • Start working on the essay early
  • Tell a story using the active voice
  • Use strong verbs and simple sentences.
  • Answer the college's questions
  • Avoid clichés.
  • Stay personal and concrete.
  • Write a compelling lead sentence.
  • Read it aloud.
  • Revise, revise, revise. You are trying to tell your story in the fewest words possible.
  • Proofread, and have someone else whose judgment you trust, read it for content and correctness.
